Is Your Spirit Practicing in Isolation?
You feel the pull of the Earth beneath your feet. You sense the sacred in the turning of seasons. You know โ know โ that we are not separate from the web of life, but woven into it.
Yet you practice alone. Books sustain you, but they cannot hold you. Rituals nourish, but they cannot witness you. What you sense is real โ and it is calling you toward community.
โ Oberon Zell, GaeaGenesis: Conception and Birth of the Living Earth
Without a tribe, the spiritual path narrows. Without mentorship, depths remain unplumbed. Without shared ritual, the sacred becomes theoretical. You don’t need another solitary practice โ you need a Living Tradition and the waterkin who hold it with you.

The Circle Calls โ But Is It Calling You?
- You revere the living Earth. Not as metaphor, but as the ground of all being โ a planetary organism of which you are joyfully a part.
- You seek authentic community. Not followers, not fans โ waterkin who will witness your growth and be witnessed in return.
- You embrace radical inclusion. CAW has welcomed LGBTQ+ seekers, polyamorous families, sci-fi visionaries, and Earth warriors since 1962.
- You want depth, not trend. A 63-year lineage of theology, ritual, and ecological philosophy rooted in GaeaGenesis.
- You need a fixed creed. CAW has no dogma. We gather around shared values and living questions, not answers written in stone.
- You prefer consuming over creating. CAW is participatory at every level. We are the living tradition we seek.
- You’re seeking a guru. We empower you to find your own divinity. No one here stands between you and the sacred.
- You’re comfortable with Earth’s destruction. Environmental stewardship is not optional โ it is the heart of our calling.
I spent years practicing alone, sensing something vast but unable to name it. Joining CAW gave me elders who recognized what I was reaching for, and a family who has walked these paths before me. I finally feel witnessed.

The intersection of deep ecology and lived spirituality is what drew me in. This is not roleplay or escapism โ it is a serious, joyful, embodied calling to protect the Earth through sacred consciousness.

GaeaGenesis alone rewired how I understand my place on this planet. And the Green Egg archives โ six decades of pagan thought, ecology, and community โ are a treasure you cannot find anywhere else.

Asked at the Threshold
Not at all. We welcome all seekers โ Pagan, agnostic, animist, pantheist, sci-fi visionary, or simply someone who loves the Earth and wants community. The only requirement is an open heart and genuine reverence for life.
CAW has been a pioneer in LGBTQ+ rights and polyamorous acceptance since the 1960s โ before most institutions had even begun the conversation. All identities, orientations, and families are not merely tolerated but celebrated.
GaeaGenesis is Oberon Zell’s 1971 articulation of the living Earth paradigm โ the recognition that Earth is not merely teeming with life but alive as life. It predates Lovelock’s Gaia Hypothesis and forms the intellectual and spiritual foundation of CAW’s ecological theology.
CAW is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your membership sustains Annwfn (our sacred land sanctuary), the Green Egg publication, clergy programs, community gatherings, and the Crows Nest global open circle that meets every two weeks.
You’ll be welcomed into your first circle and connected with Crows Nest, our global online open circle that meets every two weeks. Your path through the Rings unfolds at your own pace, supported by mentors, Nest community, and the full depth of CAW’s living tradition.
