Anodea Judith

Anodea Judith (Dec. 1, 1952 –)

Role(s): Priestess (retired)

Anodea discovered both the Goddess and yoga in 1975 and was never the same again. Her first coven was all women, all beginners, and they all initiated each other under a full moon in a remote hot springs in Northern California with a rusty athame and a makeshift wand. Shortly thereafter she moved to Greenfield Ranch, outside of Ukiah, CA, where she lived for several months alone on a mountaintop called Radical Ridge, learning to work with the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. Adding three additional elements of Sound, Light, and Thought, she discovered the chakra system, which became the main focus of her life’s work from that point on.

While living on Greenfield Ranch, Anodea became fast friends with Oberon (then Tim Zell) and his wife Morning Glory, and the bard Gwydion Pendderwen, joining together in the Church of All Worlds. In 1985 Anodea was ordained as a Priestess in the Church and served as President and High Priestess for ten years. During that time she founded Lifeways, a school for the study of magickal and healing arts (now called Sacred Centers) and helped develop many of the Church’s rituals, songs, and training programs.

In 1987, Anodea published her first book, Wheels of Life: A User’s Guide to the Chakra System, which has sold 200,000 copies in English and been translated into 14 languages, becoming the definitive work on the subject. She followed with several more books: The Sevenfold Journey, written with Selene Vega, Eastern Body-Western Mind; Chakra Balancing, and an award-winning video, The Illluminated Chakras. Her most recent book, Waking the Global Heart: Humanity’s Rite of Passage from the Love of Power to the Power of Love, won two literary awards in 2007 and charts the history of humanity from the ancient Goddess cultures through the present and into the future, showing how to achieve a heart-based paradigm in balanced relationship with the web of life.

Anodea Judith received her M.A. in Psychology and Ph.D. in Mind-body health, with additional trainings in yoga, bioenergetics, trauma recovery, hypnotherapy, Avatar, and anything else pertinent she could study. She teaches workshops worldwide on the chakras, healing, and cultural transformation. For more info, see www.sacredcenters.com
